NEW YORK — A snow plow accident in New York City sent diners in a Queens restaurant running for their lives after hitting a garbage can and sending ice and debris through the windows, injuring several people, according to PIX11.

Police say the plow collided with a garbage can full of ice Thursday evening, which propelled it into windows of Exo Cafe.

“It kind of sounded like a bomb went off. It was the loudest noise I ever heard in my life and I was typing in an order,” employee Blane Boyd told PIX11.

Several people were confirmed to be injured but the extent of their injuries is not known at this time. Approximately 40 people were in the restaurant at the time of the accident.

It is unclear if the snow plow stopped after the accident or left the scene.

The New York Department of Sanitation told PIX11 it will seek disciplinary action against the operators of the snow plow.
