GREENSBORO, N.C. — The request by a development company to rezone 6.77 acres at the corner of Hobbs Road and West Friendly Avenue has been withdrawn.

The City of Greensboro was notified Friday that CAP Development LLC had withdrawn the request.

The site was speculated to be the future site of a Trader Joe’s, prior to Trader Joe’s saying they were no longer interested in the proposed site or Greensboro.

Community members from Friendly Coalition have protested the rezoning proposal to build at the corner of Hobbs Road and Friendly Avenue.

The rezoning request was expected to be considered at the Greensboro City Council meeting on March 18.
