BERMUDA RUN, N.C. — Authorities said a registered sex offender was arrested after managing an ice cream shop in Davie County, where he was supervising minors.

David Darrell Duncan Jr., 31, was allegedly working at K & D Ice Cream (former Carvel) in Bermuda Run.

Deputies with the Davie County Sheriff’s Office said he was charged with violating the sex offender act.

Officers said Duncan was arrested at the store and told officials he was a manager. Deputies said they received information on the incident on February 25.

Deputies said the suspect can legally work at an ice cream shop, but supervising people under the age of 18 was a violation of his status as a sex offender.

Officials said the suspect was placed in the Davie County Detention Center under a $5,000 secured bond and has court planned for Thursday.

Duncan was convicted of indecent liberties with a minor in June of 2002 in Pasquotank County, according to the North Carolina sex offender registry.
