Deputies searching for Reidsville man accused of beating woman

UPDATE: The suspect’s vehicle, a Burgundy 2002 Crown Victoria, was found over the weekend in Pittsylvania County, Virginia.  However, deputies say the suspect was not located and is still at large. An updated photo of the suspect was also provided (see below).

WENTWORTH, N.C. — Deputies are looking for a Reidsville man accused of kidnapping and beating a woman that they said he was traveling with Tuesday.

Arrests warrants were obtained for Jason Levert Johns, 24, of 1825 Sandy Cross Road, for first degree kidnapping and felonious assault inflicting serious injury.

Johns allegedly held the victim against her will, bruised her face, chest and arms, leaving a laceration similar to a bite mark, a laceration above her left eye, facial fractures and a large amount of hair removed from her head.

Deputies said Johns began beating her around 11 p.m. Tuesday. The victim tried running into a store, but Johns allegedly tackled her, started kicking her and forced her back into his vehicle.

Johns is described as a black male, 5’8″ and between 175-200 pounds, with the tattoo “SP” on his forehead between his eyebrows. He also is described as having a spiderweb tattoo with “Stacy” on his left arm and “Shaunnawan” on his knuckles.

Deputies said he was last seen driving a Burgundy 2002 Crown Victoria with a Va. plate reading 2022VT. The car has tinted windows and damage to the front passenger side.
