LEXINGTON, N.C. (WGHP)— A Lexington man has been arrested after almost 2,000 vials of synthetic marijuana and $17,943 in cash was seized from his home and business Monday.

Jonathan L. Antinori, 35, faces charges of trafficking synthetic cannabinoids by possession, possession with intent to sell and deliver a schedule VI controlled substance and maintaining a dwelling to keep a controlled substance.

Detectives found 1,859 vials at Antinori’s business, Atlas Liquidators at 308 Berrier Avenue in Lexington, and another 100 at his home at 175 Clearfield Drive. The cash was also found at his home.

Antinori received a $250,000 secured bond. Further details were not provided.

Synthetic marijuana has been banned in North Carolina since June 1, after officials say synthetic drugs contributed to the deaths of two North Carolina State University students in October 2010.
