REIDSVILLE, N.C. — Deputies said five gunshots were fired into a Reidsville couple’s home Saturday for the second time in two weeks they’ve been targeted.

Officials said the shots were fired around 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning in the 300 block of County Line Road in what appears to have been a drive-by shooting. Deputies said they found eight shell casings on the road in front of the home.

Authorities said the couple’s five children were home at the time of the shooting but no injuries were reported.

Christine Handy, who has lived across the street since 1992, said something like this has never happened in the rural area around County Line Road.

“Never one shot in this neighborhood that I know of other than people target practicing,” Handy said. “What’s scaring me — if they come back, next time they’re going to be prepared to shoot, and those shots could come in my house, and I’m raising two children.”

Another less violent but still disturbing incident happened a week earlier.

Deputies said the same victim at the same house said she answered her door last Friday morning and found two men, one of which had a gun pointed at her, demanding to know where her husband was.

She said she ran to the backdoor and the men left. Deputies said the victims say they do not know why they are being targeted.

Kristen Harbour, who lived down the street with her three children, worries about the children in the house as much as her own kids.

“They’re not only jeopardizing everyone around them, they’re jeopardizing their own family. That hurts me for those kids because they didn’t ask for it,” Harbour said.

The suspects are described as two black males, both wearing light dress shirts and dark pants.
