FONTANA, Calif. — NASCAR Driver Denny Hamlin remains hospitalized Monday after a hard single-car crash in the Auto Club 400 Sunday afternoon.

USA Today reported that Hamlin had been staying overnight for observation and tests. He was reportedly complaining of back pain following the crash.

Hamlin had to be airlifted to the hospital after driver Joey Logano spun Hamlin out and into a wall near the end of Sunday’s race.

Hamlin and Logano had been involved in a verbal battle all week after the two fought following a wreck last week in Bristol.

Hamlin was helped from his car after the hit and was taken by ambulance to the infield care center.

Hamlin’s girlfriend, Jordan Fish, tweeted Sunday night: “Thank u everyone for your messages concerning Denny. Darian is keeping us posted. He’s alert n awake, main concern is his back #PrayersforDH”
