DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — A Davidson County mom was arrested Sunday after threatening to arm her three children with guns during an attempted burglary, according to a news release.

Deputies with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office responded to 985 E. Park Ave. to the report of shots being fired into a residence.

Someone advised deputies that a friend of the family, Candace Jackson, arrived armed with multiple firearms and was causing a disturbance.

Deputies arrived to find Jackson trying to flee the scene with her three children, ages 15, 13 and 10, inside of a vehicle with her. After further investigation, it was discovered that Jackson was attempting to carry out a plan to take money from the homeowners that she felt they had stolen from her. Part of this plan involved arming all of her children with firearms to help her.

The victims stated that Jackson fired multiple shots while walking down the road before making her way to the porch of the home. She then attempted to break in the home before the door was opened and she was confronted. A struggle ensued between the homeowner and Jackson over the firearms which led to the discharge of a small caliber handgun into the porch, causing minor injury to the homeowner. Two guns were taken away from Jackson at the home and seven more were recovered in the vehicle.

Jackson was arrested and charged with attempted burglary, attempted armed robbery, going armed to the terror of the public, assault by pointing a gun, assault with a deadly weapon, giving firearms to minors, child abuse, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and driving while impaired. Jackson was placed in the Davidson County Detention Center under a $105,000.00 secured bond.
