Chris Daughtry returned to the show that helped make him famous Thursday night to debut the new single off his new album.

His band performed “Outta My Head” live on American Idol’s Top 11 results show.

The band spent more than a month in a Greensboro garage practicing for the Idol performance and the new “Break This Spell” tour.

Daughtry finished fourth during the show’s fifth season in 2006, but his national fame has lasted well after the show left the air.

The tour begins in Buffalo on Tuesday and will stop at the Greensboro Coliseum on April 7. It is the only arena on the tour this year.
