PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland’s professional cuddler is taking her business to a new level by putting on the world’s first cuddle convention.

It’s called Cuddle Con, and it’s all happening on Valentine’s Day.

“Portland is the perfect place for this. I’m so excited that it’s happening here,” organizer Samantha Hess said.

Hess has made snuggling a business. She started her professional cuddling business in 2013. It’s called Cuddle Up to Me, and Hess says it’s a hit.

“It’s really beyond what I can handle. It’s so great to finally be able to incorporate other people into this,” she said.

She’s hired three new ladies to help her out.

“There’s opportunities to try out so many different things and find your comfort level and really just explore a community that’s open and safe and comfortable for everyone,” Hess said.

“Everybody has to start their day by taking a consent class, so that they know what to expect for the day, they know how to interact with the people around them and they can choose what’s right for them,” she said.

Hess says, there will be classes, speakers, yoga, dance and, of course, cuddling. She says, it’s not about sex; it’s about the celebration of the human connection through touch.

“Cuddling is definitely an option. You don’t actually have to cuddle at Cuddle Con. You can just come and be a part of the festivities,” Hess said.

The only requirement is that you have to be at least 18 years old to attend.
