Crews face fire at old Kern Street School in Thomasville

THOMASVILLE, N.C. — Firefighters in Thomasville are trying to find out how a fire started in an old vacant school building Monday morning.

The fire department was called to the old Kern Street School at about 10:30 a.m. Monday morning and arrived on the scene to find smoke pouring out of the building.

Firefighters spent about 30 minutes working to contain the fire.

The Thomasville Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.
