Lockdown at White House lifted following investigation of ‘unattended package’

WASHINGTON — The White House was placed on lockdown for about an hour Tuesday.

The lockdown started at about 1:15 p.m. after an “unattended package” was discovered near the north fence line.

Press crews on the White House North Lawn were directed to go inside the James S. Brady briefing room, according to the Washington Examiner.

The Secret Service and Washington, D.C., police investigated the package and the Secret Service said at 2:13 p.m. they had cleared the package from the fence line.

The lockdown has been lifted, according to ABC News.

Secret Service agents have not provided any additional details.

President Donald Trump is not currently in the building.
