ASHEBORO, N.C. — Josh and Holly Craven have a lot to celebrate this Christmas. The couple welcomed their first baby, Aubrey Elizabeth, on Dec. 3.

“She has turned our world upside down in all kinds of new crazy,” Holly said. “But it’s a good crazy.”

Like any brand new parents, Josh and Holly are sleep deprived, scared and totally in love.

“Just holding her and seeing that she’s really here, that’s a huge deal to me,” Josh said. “It almost brings tears to my eyes to look at her, that we created that and I get to teach her and raise her.”

FOX8 first met the couple in November 2010, shortly after Josh was critically injured in Iraq. Josh was going through grueling rehabilitation at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. and Holly never left his side.

“It only brought us closer and made us stronger,” Holly said. “He’s injured but he’s stronger. “

Now retired from the Army and with rehab behind him, Josh is preparing for his next big life challenge: being a full-time stay-at-home dad to Aubrey while Holly finishes a full time internship for school.

Josh will finish school in May and is still trying to decide what he will do with his degree. Holly graduates this spring and plans to teach elementary school.
