Colares, Portugal — A couple visiting Portugal fell to their deaths over the weekend while attempting to snap a selfie with their kids on the edge of a cliff, according to the Independent.

The family was touring near the cliffs of Cabo da Roca on the west coast of Portugal, according to the Independent.

When the family gathered for a group selfie, the parents apparently slipped and plummeted off the side of the cliff.

Bad weather conditions forced workers to abandon their search on Saturday. The couple’s bodies were found on Sunday, according to the report.

According to the Independent, officials believe the selfie contributed to the accident. Authorities are still investigating.

The children are in the care of Polish diplomats and are being evaluated by psychologists.
