Consumer Reports ranks best/worst fast food and fast casual restaurants

When it comes to the “food” in “fast food,” quality is becoming increasingly important to consumers.

In the upcoming August 2014 issue, Consumer Reports surveyed 32,000 subscribers about their experiences at 65 “fast food” and “fast casual” restaurants. “Fast casual” restaurants include Panera, Jason’s Deli, Chipotle and others.

When it comes to hamburgers, Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Fuddruckers and Steak ‘n Shake received the highest marks. McDonald’s ranked last on the list, with Jack in the Box and Burger King also in the bottom three.

When it comes to chicken, Chick-fil-A took top honors. Bojangles’ also made the list, ranking at #5. KFC ranked last in the chicken category.

In the sandwiches & subs category, Firehouse Subs, Jason’s Deli and McAllister’s received high grades. Subway ranked near the bottom of the list.

Burritos was given its own category. Chipotle took top honors with Qdoba not far behind. Moe’s Southwest Grill ranked #5 on the list. Taco Bell ranked last.
