Cone Denim Entertainment Center opens with sold out shows in downtown Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Dave Chappelle will be the first performer to take the stage at the new House of Blues Entertainment-affiliated center here in the Piedmont.

Chappelle will perform during the center’s inaugural event with four shows on Nov. 5 and 6. A venue spokesperson says all four shows are sold out.

The center is officially named the Cone Denim Entertainment Center. The center is named after Cone Mills.

Owners hope having an entertainment venue downtown will help other businesses in the area.

“If we can drive 850 people here on a Friday, 850 people here on a Saturday. They come in an hour and a half early and they go eat, then go somewhere afterwards -- then we've helped every other business on the 100, 200, 300 block. Whatever it may be. That's the whole key," said Greater Greensboro Entertainment Group President Rocky Scarfone.
