CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A tractor-trailer truck driver was taken to the hospital after a chunk of ice crashed through his windshield while he was driving Friday morning in Charlotte.

The ice fell from an overpass onto the truck on I-485 at Mount Holly Road in northwest Charlotte around 4 a.m., according to WSOC.

The ice chunk was about the size of a dodge ball when it crashed through the windshield.

Paramedics said the driver is suffering life-threatening injuries.
