WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Christmas lights are going up in downtown Winston-Salem as preparations for the holiday season are underway over the region, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.
Crews are putting up the lights now to make sure that everything will be in place for the annual parade, Assistant City Manager Greg Turner.
The parade, sponsored by the Winston-Salem Jaycees, will be held Saturday, Dec. 5, at 5 p.m. The parade will be followed by the tree-lighting ceremony sponsored by the Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership.
Other events are gearing up, too, including the Festival of Lights at Tanglewood Park, which opens for the season Saturday, Nov. 21. The tour, with more than 80 displays, takes place daily from 6-11 p.m. through Jan. 3.
