GREENSBORO, N.C. — Checkers Drive-In Restaurant is coming to the Triad, according to the Greensboro News & Record.

John Palumbo, Checkers and Rally’s director of franchise development for the east coast, says a franchise group has signed for development and another is close to getting on board for Checkers’ locations in Greensboro and High Point.

Palumbo says sites are being scouted. “Within 12 months, I believe we’ll have a restaurant,” said Palumbo.

Checkers, a 30-year-old brand, is a chain of about 800 double drive-through restaurants in the United States. About 500 of those are franchised.

The chain also owns Rally’s, which it acquired in 1999. Palumbo says Checkers plans to open four to eight locations in the Greensboro and High Point area.
