CHARLOTTE, N.C. — As the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Coca-Cola 600 makes it way to Charlotte this weekend, a NASCAR-based film titled “Logan Lucky” is set to begin pre-production filming at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
The movie, which is based around a theoretical heist that occurs at the speedway, stars Channing Tatum, Daniel Craig, Riley Keough, Adam Driver and Seth MacFarlene, according to a news release from NASCAR.
Steven Soderbergh, critically-acclaimed director of Ocean’s Eleven, Traffic and Erin Brockovich, is set to direct the film. This will be his first film since he announced his retirement from the film industry in 2013.
The Coca-Cola 600 airs live on at 6 p.m. Sunday on FOX8.
The movie is tentatively scheduled to release in Fall 2017.
