CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A 37-year-old man arrested for pointing a gun at a female driver with children in her vehicle was identified as a captain with the Charlotte Fire Department, WSOC reports.

Brent Mincey was arrested Tuesday after police say he pointed the gun at the mother during rush hour traffic on Monday.

Mincey, who has been with the department since 2004, was charged with assault by pointing a gun.

“The Charlotte Fire Department is aware of the incident involving one of its members and it’s currently under investigation,” fire officials said in a statement emailed to WSOC.

Police say the confrontation wasn’t about anything specific, just an act of road rage.

Mincey bonded out of jail but has a January court appearance.
