Carowinds amusement park opens for the 2016 season

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Carowinds kicked off its 2016 season on Friday and will be open daily through April 3 for spring break week.

The Charlotte-based amusement park features a new 3-D experience based on “Plants vs. Zombies” and its Carolina Harbor water park is set to open May 21.

The nearly 400-acre amusement park is adjacent to Interstate 77 on the border between North and South Carolina, in Charlotte and Fort Mill, respectively.

Fury 325, the world’s tallest and fasted Giga Coaster, opened at the park last year.
