ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. — Two Camp Lejeune Marines have rescued a man from his burning SUV, pulling him out of the back of the vehicle and bringing him to safety.

WCTI-TV reported that Cpl. David Qualls, 22, and Cpl. Nathan Bryson, 21, are credited with saving a  54-year-old Larry Flesher.

Officials said the victim was involved in a three-vehicle crash at the top of a bridge Friday morning in Onslow County.

The victim was headed across the bridge when he crossed the center line and hit a vehicle, according to a Highway Patrol trooper.

A third vehicle heading across the bridge toward Camp Lejeune was also involved. The front portion of the victim’s vehicle reportedly burst in flames.

The Marines reportedly came running toward the burning vehicle and pulled the victim out of the back of the SUV.
