CONCORD, N.C. – Cam Newton heard about an early Halloween party for a boy with cancer, so he showed up with an ice cream truck.

Multiple news outlets are reporting that a community in Concord is rallying behind a 10-year-old boy named Elijah Hughes who has a rare form of cancer.

Hughes loves Halloween and dressed like the Joker from Batman, according to SBNation. Dozens of children joined him in the early Halloween party.

Newton heard about the street party and decided to crash it, according to WCNC. The Panthers quarterback brought an ice cream truck and brownies.

“As a mom it absolutely melts your heart,” said Becky Hughes, Elijah’s mom, according to WCNC. “It brings tears to my eyes.”
