SALISBURY, N.C. — A teenager knocked down an elderly woman and tried to grab her purse, but a bystander tackled the teen and held him until police arrived.

WBTV reported that the bystander took action after witnessing the incident just after 6 p.m. outside a home improvement store in Salisbury.

The 15-year-old suspect is accused of knocking the woman to the ground and trying to take her purse. The suspect allegedly started running away and the bystander tackled him and held him until officers arrived.

The suspect has been charged as a juvenile with strong arm robbery. The victim is expected to be okay.
