Burlington Police search for suspect in pair of armed robberies

BURLINGTON, N.C.–Burlington Police are investigating a pair of armed robberies that took place within minutes of each other on Sunday morning.

According to police, the first robbery was at Kens Quickie Mart at 1309 Rauhut St. at 9:04 a.m. The second robbery was reported at Grill Works at 1233 W. Webb Ave at 9:10 a.m.

Police said the description of the suspect in both incidents was similar. He is described as a white male, late 40s to 50s, 5’8” to 6’0”, 165-180 lbs., short gray hair, receding hair-line and thick mustache. He was wearing jeans, dark-colored wind breaker and white t-shirt. He is armed with a knife.

The suspect was last seen leaving both businesses in a 1995 Chrysler Cirrus, 4-D with a chipped and fading paint. The tag number is YTN-6381 with North Carolina plates.

The car was stolen from the Biscuitville parking lot at 2065 N. Church Street, in Burlington this morning at 8:47 a.m., about 15 minutes prior to the first robbery.

The suspect was last seen traveling in the stolen car down W. Webb Ave.

Prior to the armed robberies and motor vehicle theft, the suspect was last seen walking on foot in the area of N. Mebane Street and in the parking lot of Walmart on Graham Hopedale Rd.
