Burlington police search for shooting suspect

BURLINGTON, N.C. – Police are searching for the man that shot Alton Wayne Harris Jr. on Elwood Street Friday night.

Harris told police he had been arguing with a man known as “Tony” or “Slick” in front of a home near Texas Avenue when he was shot.

Harris was flown by helicopter to UNC-CH hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the lower abdomen, said police

Police identified the shooter as Antonio Servellas Jeffries, 40, and issued a warrant for his arrest.

Jeffries is charged with one count of Assault with Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury, according to police.
