Burlington police investigating robbery at truck stop

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Burlington police are investigating a robbery at a truck stop.

At 9:27 a.m. Thursday, Burlington police officers responded to the TA truck stop at 1101 N.C. 61 in reference to a report of a robbery.

The victim told officers he was sitting in his truck when he was approached by a man who said there was someone giving away money in the parking lot.

The victim walked with the man to the ATM and withdrew an undisclosed amount of money in hopes of getting free money, according to Burlington police Sgt. A. Irby.

The victim walked with the man over to the diesel pumps where another man had a card table set up with cards on it.

When the victim approached with his money to play, one of the men grabbed his money and ran.

The victim followed the man for a short distanced and then returned to the pumps. Both men involved in the robbery were gone.
