Burlington police investigating attempted first degree robbery

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Police are investigating an attempted first degree burglary that occurred Wednesday evening.

Police responded to a home in the 800-block of Chandler Avenue just after 6:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, the homeowner said a man armed with a handgun attempted to enter the residence by forcing the side door open. The suspect was unable to get into the home but the door was damaged. The suspect then fired multiple rounds into the residence.

The suspect was described as a black male, light skin 18 to 25 years of age, wearing dark clothing and a toboggan.

No injuries were reported.
