Body found in South River could be missing Hope Mills teen

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities say a body recovered from the South River could be the missing Hope Mills teenager last seen on March 11, according to WTVD.

Danielle Locklear, 15, was last seen by a family member on March 11. Agents from multiple agencies and hundreds of volunteers have contributed to the search efforts in recent weeks.

Just before 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, emergency crews were called regarding a body in the South River just outside of Autryville.

The body recovered was female. The victim has been taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Raleigh for identification and to determine the cause of death.

Investigators tell WTVD they have been in contact with the parents of the missing Locklear.

Investigators are still processing the area where the body was found for possible evidence.
