HIGH POINT, N.C. — Amanda Anderson has lived in High Point all her life and she says she has watched the number of homeless people here grow and grow.

“It’s getting a lot colder outside and our homeless population in High Point alone has grown exponentially over the last few years,” she said.

So, this year, Anderson started an effort called “Cover the City.” She’s hoping to collect 500 blankets during November to hand out, in partnership with Open Door Ministries, to those that need them most.

Anderson says she is about halfway to her goal but is optimistic she will reach 500 in the next couple of weeks. She plans to continue the blanket drive next year and beyond.
