CONCORD, N.C.— Charlotte Motor Speedway has replaced country singer Billy Currington as the pre-race act before next month’s All-Star race, The Associated Press reports.
Currington was charged Thursday with making terroristic threats and abuse of an elderly person. He was released from a Georgia jail after posting a $27,700 bond.
Each of the charges is a felony punishable by one to five years in prison.
According to the report, Josh Turner will perform the pre-race concert before the May 18 race. Charlotte Motor Speedway President Marcus Smith cited Currington’s arrest for the change.
