ASHEBORO, N.C. — Police say a standoff has ended after they responded to an Asheboro home Wednesday afternoon where a man barricaded himself inside.
Asheboro police were dispatched to a home, located in the 1300 block of Little Gate Drive, around 12:30 p.m. in reference to a follow up from a previous larceny call. Upon arrival, officers saw three subjects leave the residence in a hurried manner and heard a gunshot.
More officers were then dispatched and a perimeter was set up. It was determined that 21-year-old Daniel Eric Schexnider was barricaded inside with a shotgun.
Negotiators spoke with Schexnider until he came out of the residence around 3:30 p.m. He was arrested and charged with assault on a law enforcement officer with a firearm and discharging a firearm in an enclosure.
Schexnider was placed in the Randolph County Jail under a $250,000 secured bond.
