CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — An Asheboro man who allegedly killed two adults and one child while driving drunk in July 2015 pleaded guilty to three counts of involuntary manslaughter, according to WTVD. He had been charged with second-degree murder but took the lesser charge on Monday.

WNCN reports that 21-year-old Chandler Kania’s Jeep Wrangler crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a Suzuki with four people inside. Three of the four died.

The crash killed 49-year-old Felicia Harris, 46-year-old Darlene McGee, and 6-year-old Jahnice Beard, who was in the back seat.

The fourth passenger was hospitalized with serious injuries but survived, and Kania was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries.

Kania already pleaded guilty to charges of DWI, serious injury by motor vehicle and death by motor vehicle.

Kania was sentenced to 153-196 months in prison on Monday, WNCN’s David Hurst reports.
