ASHEBORO — Officials said an Asheboro man injured in a two-vehicle wreck Saturday was listed in critical condition Monday at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

The Asheboro Courier-Tribune reported that Robert Hinton Taylor, 68, was pinned in his vehicle after the crash around 6:15 a.m. at East Salisbury Street and Dublin Square Road.

Officials said he was hospitalized after being freed after emergency responder used hydraulic-cutting equipment.

Police said a 2005 GMC pickup headed west on East Salisbury Street collided with the passenger side of Taylor’s 1995 Toyota passenger car headed north from Dublin Square Road. The car went backwards down an embankment and the truck ended up against it, officials said.

Authorities said both men were alone in their vehicles and the pickup’s driver was not hurt.
