Asheboro City Schools to operate on 2-hour delay Monday

ASHEBORO, N.C. – Asheboro City Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay Monday after thousands were left without power from the ice storm on Friday.

There were nearly 13,000 Randolph County Duke Energy customers without power on Sunday afternoon and about 125,000 in the state, according to Duke Energy.

Crews are working to restore power after a storm hit the area Friday, causing downed trees and power lines and strong winds.

Alamance-Burlington Schools are closed Monday as about 40,000 people in Alamance County were without power Sunday afternoon.
