ASHEBORO, N.C. -- An overnight storm brought a path of destruction to several parts of Asheboro.

For Ink ‘n Stitches Embroidery Shop, located at 2739 U.S. 220 Business, wind bursts blew off its metal roof and scattered it across the neighborhood.

The business is working with its insurance company to evaluate the damage and cover the gaping hole.

“I hope they can get everything done because I hear there’s another storm coming tonight,” co-owner Penny York pointed out.

The storm also left a family scrambling after a tree at the corner of Charles Avenue and Brady Boulevard uprooted and crashed into a family’s house. Fortunately, the family’s daughter is grown and out of the home. The tree crashed through her bedroom into the bed, covering the room with splintered wood and attic insulation.

“Thank you Jesus,” said the homeowner Lewis King. “That’s what it’s all about. We’re healthy, we’re here, tomorrow’s another day.”
