Arrest made in hit-and-run that injured retired Greensboro police sergeant

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A man is in custody in connection with the Saturday night hit-and-run in Greensboro.

On Tuesday, police identified the suspect vehicle, a 2000-2002 Chevrolet Cavalier, that was believed to be connected to a hit-and-run that happened near the intersection of Spring Garden Street and South Holden Road at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

The hit-and-run resulted in serious injuries to 73-year-old retired Greensboro Police Department Sgt. James Brower Clark. He remains hospitalized and his condition has been upgraded to stable.

A Crime Stoppers tip along with investigation by the Greensboro Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit led to the arrest of 29-year-old Joshua Samuel Israel, of Greensboro.

Israel is charged with felony hit and run. He was confined in the Guilford County Jail under a $2,500 secured bond.
