GALAX, Va. — An arrest has been made in the double-homicide of a Galax mother and daughter in March, according to a news release from Galax police.

Richard Denny Nofsinger Jr., 36, of Galax, is charged with capital murder and first-degree murder.

Nofsinger was arrested on Tuesday by members of the Galax Police Department and the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office in connection with the deaths of 28-year-old Alyssa Ann Kenny and her daughter 21-month-old Anastasia Leighann Alley.

The mother and daughter were found dead inside their home on Laurel Street in Galax on March 10.

In the news release, Galax police said, “Their deaths were obviously caused by a violent attack.”

Galax police said this is still an active investigation and they will continue to pursue information related to the case.
