Officer-involved shooting with barricaded suspect in Stokes County; suspect dead

PINNACLE, N.C. — An armed robbery suspect was shot and killed by a Stokes County deputy on Friday evening.

The suspect allegedly committed an armed robbery at Shear Country Hair & Tanning, located at 2792 North Old 52 Road in Pinnacle at about 5 p.m.

The salon owner’s husband was stabbed in the incident, according to the sheriff’s office. He was taken to a Winston-Salem hospital and his condition has not been disclosed.

The suspect then fled to a nearby home and barricaded themselves inside for several hours, according to the sheriff’s office.

Some time before 8 p.m., the suspect snuck out of the back of the home and was confronted by deputies. The suspect walked toward deputies with the knife.

Deputies told the suspect to drop the knife. The suspect refused and was shot and killed.

The identity of the suspect has not been released.
