Archdale man struck, killed in Moore County hit-and-run

MOORE COUNTY, N.C. — A man from the Piedmont Triad died after being hit by a vehicle on Friday night in Moore County, according to the State Highway Patrol.

The accident happened at 11:57 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of Putnam Church Road outside of Carthage.

The pedestrian, identified as Matthew Tyler Phillips, 24, of Archdale, succumbed to his injuries after being struck by a vehicle, Highway Patrol said.

According to Highway Patrol, Phillips was struck by the vehicle while lying on the roadway. After striking Phillips, the driver of the vehicle left the scene.

Highway Patrol is soliciting information from the public in hopes of identifying the driver and suspect vehicle.
