BOONE, N.C. — Two Appalachian State University students are charged with vandalizing the Horn of the West, a popular outdoor theater in Boone, authorities said Friday, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.
On Feb. 28, Boone police investigated a report that someone used spray paint to vandalize the theater’s property, causing about $3,000 in damage, police said. The vandals also entered several buildings and damaged them, police said.
Peter Anthony Pizzato, 19, of Charlotte was charged with three counts of misdemeanor damage to real property, three counts of misdemeanor defacing a public building and other offenses, police said. Pizzato is a sophomore at ASU, police said.
Matthew Ryan Goldstein, 18, of Plantation, Fla., was charged with felony breaking and entering, misdemeanor damage to real property, misdemeanor damage defacing a public building and other offenses, police said. Goldstein is a freshman at ASU, police said.
Police Chief Dana Crawford said that the Horn of the West has historic and cultural significance for Boone.
