Business Insider recently published a list of the best things to eat in every U.S. state.
It shouldn’t come as a big surprise that barbecue was named for North Carolina – “slow cooked-pork that is chopped or shredded” to be exact.
“In this state, BBQ translates to succulent, slow cooked-pork that is chopped or shredded and drowned either in a tangy vinegar sauce or a sweet, ketchup-infused sauce,” the article said, referring to North Carolina.
The best place to get barbecue in the Tar Heel state is up for debate.
But three places in the Triad were recently named among the state’s best: The “Honey Monk” in Lexington, Little Richard’s in Winston-Salem and Deano’s BBQ in Mocksville.
Thousands of people are expected to attend Lexington’s annual Barbecue Festival Oct. 24 in downtown Lexington.
