Police: Durham boy at center of Amber Alert found safe in closet

RALEIGH, N.C. — An Amber Alert that was issued early Thursday for a missing 4-year-old Durham boy has been canceled.

The alert, which was issued shortly after 2 a.m. for Ari Yanitan Aguilar-Castillo, was canceled around 7:30 a.m. after police say the boy was found asleep inside a closet in his mother’s apartment, according to WRAL.

Before the alert was canceled, police had described an alleged abductor as a white male around the age of 45 with black hair and brown eyes standing 5’8″ tall and weighing 180 pounds. It was not clear where the suspect description originated.

No other details were available.
