BURLINGTON, N.C. — Officials with the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office said they have identified the homicide victim whose body was found late last month in Burlington.

Authorities said the body of 47-year-old Kenneth Joel Clapp was found shortly after 9 a.m. March 29 in the 300 block of Louis Graham Road.

A man told deputies he spotted what he first thought to be a mannequin about 30 yards from the roadway near an abandoned structure.

Deputies said the man discovered it to be a body when he got closer. They said the victim’s body “experienced significant trauma.”

Deputies said they believe the victim had been dead for less than 24 hours by the time his body was discovered. They said they believe he was not killed at the location his body was discovered.

Detectives said they were able to determine the victim’s identity by tracing a receipt found on the body.

The investigation is ongoing and authorities said they are pursuing addition leads. Anyone with any information can call the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office at (336) 570-6300.
