Active shooter reported at courthouse in downtown Asheville, officials say

UPDATE: The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office says the courthouse is secure, and there is no longer an active threat. WSPA reports a suspect is in custody.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – An active shooter was reported Tuesday morning at the Buncombe County Courthouse in downtown Asheville.

An alert from officials was issued around 10 a.m.

People are asked to avoid downtown Asheville.
