After six years of negotiations, ESPN and the Atlantic Coast Conference have agreed to a 20-year deal that will launch the ACC Network by August 2019, ESPN reports.
The ACC’s current deal with ESPN runs through 2026-2027 but lacks the financial incentives of conferences such as the Big Ten and SEC. The new deal is expected to increase the league’s overall value, making it a top conference.
“That’s why ESPN is in the discussions with us,” said ACC commissioner John Swofford, according to News & Observer. “They like to make money, too. And we like to make money, as well.”
The ACC Network will release its digital channel this fall.
