RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. -- People often hear about famous racehorse winners like California Chrome, but never about the race losers.

You might be shocked to find out what happens to many of the horses who just can't cut it on the track.

One of Roy's Folks is trying to raise awareness about the plight of former racehorses and she is doing it in an unusual way.

The competition is called the Ultimate Ex Showdown. Fifteen trainers from all across the country will take former racehorses and compete in non-racetrack events like barrel racing.

Her name is Leisha Griffith and she has experience working with high spirited animals. She and her husband have competed before in a similar competition training wild mustangs.
