79-year-old woman pepper-sprayed in Thomasville robbery

THOMASVILLE, N.C. — Police say a 79-year-old woman was pepper-sprayed Monday afternoon during a robbery in Thomasville.

The robbery was reported around 3 p.m. in the parking lot of Southgate Plaza at 1033 Randolph St.

Witnesses told police that two or three women had driven up in a silver or gray sedan and tried taking the elderly woman’s purse, but the victim refused to hand it over. One of the suspects then pepper-sprayed the victim.

The victim was treated at the scene by Davidson County EMS.

No other details were available.
