45 Charged in Lexington Drug Roundup

Lexington Police have charged 45 people at the end of a seven-month undercover drug roundup.

Warrants were served Tuesday morning for the arrests as part of operation Street Sweep. More than half had been arrested by Tuesday afternoon, police said in a news release.

An undercover Lexington officer began the operation in July, police said.

The officer purchased marijuana, crack cocaine, powder cocaine, ecstasy and various prescription pills from suspected drug dealers, police said.

Ages of the arrested ranged from 21 to 71. Bond amounts were as high as $500,000 secured.
